Genesis 4-7

Today's reading were Genesis 4-7. What I enjoy most about the reading is just the flow of how the earth was full of everything good, and it turned into the world we have..now. It is full of violence, which was probably the case when Enoch was taken up with God..The scripture says: Enoch walked with God; then he was no more, because God took him away. (Gen 5:24). Notice that Enoch's wife and children were not taken up, only him. It does not mention anyone else's walk with God other than Enoch and Noah in today's reading (Genesis 4-7). Enoch walked with God. It did not meant his wife or children or if they walked with God.

Later in the passage, it said people became evil..

Gen 6:1-4 says: "The number of people on earth continued to increase. When these people had daughters, the sons of God saw how beautiful they were. So they chose the women they wanted. They married them, and the women had their children." What if we chose our spouses in the same way? What if we chose them based on their beauty rather than their love for God and serving their fellow neighbor?

As the world became full of evil, we see Noah. Noah and his family. Noah was righteous, but him and his family was saved from God's wrath---just as Enoch was saved from the world and its decay..

The media screws up the account of Noah and the ark. In movies, they depict Noah as not knowing when the flood would happen and allow others to come onboard. Why would God allow evil people to continue to live in His world? Why should He? Noah and his family alone were saved along with pairs of animals..A fresh start..

Lastly, what caught my attention was how Cain brought SOME things as a sacrifice for God---meanwhile leaving the really good stuff for himself. While Abel gave God the very best of his flock..

Notice the contrast, now....a question:
Are we giving God our best?
Or, are we saving the scraps for Him?

God deserves our very best. He deserves our firsts, not our lasts. This is why I need to cultivate my prayer and scripture reading time and give God the beginning of my day, not just choosing to put it off until it's the last of my day.

It is all about our motives. We need to check our motives, then we won't have an opportunity to be angry when our last (versus our bests) is rejected by God..Cain gave SOME instead of his best..and gave sin an opportunity once he became angry, but did the sin begin before or after he decided how much to give God?
